One Week In

I’m a week in now, it has been seven days since I arrived and while the whole experience thus far as not been traumatic it hasn’t exactly been the most pleasant experience.

The last two days have been messed up by a combination of insomnia and waking up at a weird time of the day and it seems the airconditioning is at least in some small part, to blame.

The MOM has called me almost every day now, sometimes twice a day, asking for my FIN, asking for my Hotel, asking for my room number. Yesterday I received an SMS scheduling me for a COVID19 swab test for Wednesday, that’s good right?

One of the obligations during the quarantine is to make a health report three times a day. You have take a selfie and then take your temperature and answer a short questionnaire. Some days I am a little later in doing the submission than I should, but they get three sets of vitals everyday.

For me, the surreal, is observing the variability in my boddy temperature anything from 34 degrees to 36 something. It is curious.

This will likely be my last post related to meals, principally because we’re on a 7 day cycle and now we’re reset to the same as last week.

I will say that the boring nature of the breakfasts has seen me skip breakfasts or at least stockpile them for a feast. That was useful today when I woke at 3am ferociously hungry. I scooped three cups of yoghurt in the wee hours and then attacked the breakfast when it was deposited at 7am outside my door.

Sweet and Sour Chicken – quite tasty
seafood medley with pasta – nicely done but the pasta got dull quickly
Stingy little chicken satay sticks with veg stew – the rice was a bit mushy though
Fish with olives, a tomato base and mash – at least the vegetables were good, the rest, not so much…
two not great meals in a row – this was lunch – again heavy with the tomato base, weirrd roasted potatoes that tasted like nothing and seafood. I basically only ate the seafood
A vegetarian dinner – beans with sesame, peas, mushrooms and fusilli pasta swimming in what at best could be described as an evaporated milk sauce. I was ravenous so ate it all but couldn’t handle the soup.
